Tax Associate Job Description Template
The Tax Associate will be responsible for preparing tax returns and ensuring that taxes are paid in a timely manner. The Tax Associate will also work with clients to resolve any tax-related issues. In addition, the Tax Associate will keep abreast of changes in tax law and regulations and update clients accordingly.
Tax Associate Job Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses, and organizations
- Ensure that tax returns are filed in a timely and accurate manner
- Research tax laws and regulations in order to ensure compliance
- Represent clients during audits conducted by the IRS or state tax authorities
- Advise clients on strategies to minimize their tax liability
- Prepare financial statements and other reports required by government agencies
- Maintain records of client transactions and correspondence

Tax Associate Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- The skills and qualifications needed for the role of Tax Associate include:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
- CPA or JD preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in public accounting or law firm tax department preferred.
- Experience with tax research and writing technical tax memos.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
