The HR Associate position is responsible for providing a variety of services to HR functions at a company. The HR Associate performs HR related duties as designated. They typically perform administrative support services to the HR Department, such as maintaining personnel files, handling the payroll, handling employee relations issues, and ensuring that government regulations, laws, and policies are properly followed.

HR Associate Responsibilities

  • Create hiring requisitions based on resource needs and prioritize the requisitions based on company needs
  • Schedule interviews, participate in interview panels, and source and evaluate candidates according to requirements
  • Perform background checks, reference checks, and employment verifications
  • Coordinate and assist with onboarding procedures including new employee orientation, credentialing, and initial salary negotiations
  • Coordinate and administer benefits, perform annual compensation reviews, and report compensation trends to company leadership
  • Track and follow up on performance reviews and employee grievances
  • Provide performance feedback, coaching, and development opportunities to employees
  • Document and communicate management personnel actions including disciplinary actions and terminations
  • Perform recordkeeping and administrative duties including data entry, processing, and special projects
  • Provide general administrative support to the organization
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

HR Associate Skills Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • 5+ years’ proven experience in an HR Associate role
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws relating to employment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational skills
