Debt Collector Job Description Template
The Debt Collector will be responsible for contacting customers who have outstanding debts and collecting payments. They will work with customers to arrange payment plans and negotiate settlements. They will maintain accurate records of customer accounts and document all interactions with customers. The Debt Collector will report to the Credit Manager.

- Report any changes in debtor circumstances to supervisor.

Debt Collector Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required for this role.
- Some employers may require postsecondary education, such as completion of a debt collector training program.
- Proven experience working as a debt collector is often required.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills are necessary in order to successfully collect debts from individuals and businesses.
- Basic computer skills are also needed in order to use software programs that are designed to help with the collection process.
