The Vascular Sonographer will provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. Vascular Sonographer Job Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the vascular system.
- Operate ultrasound equipment to produce images of the arteries and veins.
- Identify anatomical structures and abnormal blood flow patterns.
- Communicate findings to physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Follow infection control protocols to maintain a safe working environment
Objectives
- To provide high quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in a hospital or clinic setting.
- To work collaboratively with physicians to ensure optimal patient care.

- To operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
- To perform all aspects of vascular sonography, including but not limited to: carotid duplex imaging, peripheral venous scanning, arterial scanning, and venous mapping.
Vascular Sonographer Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- In order to become a vascular sonographer, one must first complete an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program. After completing the program, one must then pass a national certification exam in order to become registered as a vascular sonographer. Some employers may also require certification in CPR and basic life support.
