Equipment Operator Job Description Template
The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment including, but not limited to: excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and skid steers. This position requires the ability to read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, and other construction documents. The Equipment Operator must be able to communicate effectively with other members of the construction crew. This is a safety-sensitive position and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Equipment Operator Job Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain equipment such as pumps, compressors, generators, motors, and valves
- Inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any necessary repairs or replacements
- Schedule routine maintenance and repair for equipment as needed
- Maintain accurate records of all equipment operation and maintenance activities
Objectives
- To operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- To maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
- To load and unload materials onto/from the equipment.
- To keep work areas clean and tidy throughout the shift.
- To perform regular maintenance checks on the equipment.
Equipment Operator Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- The skills and qualifications needed for the role of Equipment Operator include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, clean driving record, ability to operate heavy machinery, and previous experience operating equipment.
