Endodontist Job Description Template
The Endodontist is responsible for providing root canal therapy, as well as other endodontic treatments. They must be able to effectively diagnose and treat patients with a variety of dental conditions. The Endodontist must have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with other dental professionals.
Endodontist Job Responsibilities
- Examine teeth, using dental instruments, xrays, and other diagnostic equipment, to determine the nature of the problem and plan the appropriate course of treatment.
- Administer local anesthesia to keep patients from feeling pain during procedures.
- Perform root canals, which involve removing diseased or damaged tissue from inside the tooth and filling the space with an inert material.
- Place fillings in teeth that have been cavities or otherwise damaged.
- Repair cracked or fractured teeth and perform other restorative work, such as crowns or bridges.
- Extract (remove) teeth when necessary.

Endodontist Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a practicing dentist is required to become an endodontist. In addition, completion of an accredited endodontic residency program is necessary. Board certification through the American Board of Endodontics (ABE) is also required.
