A CAD Technician is responsible for creating and modifying Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings using software such as AutoCAD. They work closely with engineers, architects and other professionals to create accurate 2D and 3D drawings of products, buildings and systems. In addition to creating new designs, CAD Technicians also revise existing designs when changes are required. They must be able to adhere to strict deadlines and have excellent attention to detail.

CAD Technician Job Responsibilities

  • Create and interpret engineering drawings and sketches
  • Convert handdrawn sketches to digital drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Work with engineers, drafters, and other professionals to create designs
  • Modify existing designs to meet customer or manufacturer specifications

  • A CAD Technician should have a strong working knowledge of computeraided design (CAD) software programs. They should also be able to create, modify, and optimize 2D and 3D models using CAD software. Additionally, a CAD Technician should have strong problem-solving skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
