Architectural Drafter Job Description Template
The Architectural Drafter is responsible for creating drawings and plans for buildings and other structures. They work closely with architects and engineers to ensure that the designs are accurate and meet all building codes and regulations. The Drafter must be able to create both 2D and 3D drawings, as well as have a strong understanding of construction methods.
Architectural Drafter Job Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Prepare diagrams, layouts, sketches, maps, and plans to illustrate workflow, designs, and proposed solutions
- Develop detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Coordinate finalizing construction documents with engineers, architects, owners, and contractors
- Ensure that projects comply with building codes and other regulations
Objectives
- Design and prepare architectural drawings and plans for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
- Develop detailed designs for architectural projects including interior/exterior layouts, site plans, floor plans, etc.
- Revise drawings and plans based on feedback from clients, engineers, and other architects
- Coordinate with other designers and engineers to ensure that all aspects of the project are compatible
- Stay upto-date with advances in computer-aided design (CAD) software
