A CAD Designer is responsible for the creation and modification of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings. They work with engineers and other professionals to create plans for products, buildings, and systems. A CAD Designer must be able to understand instructions and specifications in order to create accurate drawings. They must also be able to use various software programs to create and edit drawings.

CAD Designer Job Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare 2D drawings and 3D models of products using CAD software
  • Work with engineers and other team members to create designs that meet customer requirements and specifications
  • Modify existing designs to improve function or manufacturability
  • Generate bills of materials, assembly instructions, and other documentation for production
  • Perform stress analysis, durability testing, and other simulations on product designs
