The AutoCAD Drafter will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD software. They will work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to create detailed plans and designs. The AutoCAD Drafter must have a strong understanding of drafting standards and be able to create accurate drawings. They must also be able to troubleshoot any problems that may arise during the drawing process.

AutoCAD Drafter Job Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computergenerated reports.
  • Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
  • Operate computerassisted drafting equipment or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, maps, layouts, charts, tables, diagrams and graphs.
  • Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for drawing preparation.
  • Develop detailed design drawings from general concepts according to standard engineering practices using CAD software packages such as AutoCAD or MicroStation/J for both 2D and 3D modeling applications
  • Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers prior to construction or manufacturing release
  • Incorporate changes recommended by engineers into final designs
  • Draw in details on parts assemblies

  • ' Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials

AutoCAD Drafter Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in drafting or a related field is typically required for entrylevel positions. However, some employers may prefer candidates with a Bachelor's degree. Additionally, AutoCAD drafters should have strong computer skills and be proficient in using AutoCAD software.
