The Art Therapist will provide therapeutic art services to patients in order to help them cope with physical, mental, and emotional issues. The therapist will use a variety of mediums to help the patient express themselves and work through their problems. They will also work with the patient's family and other care providers to create an individualized treatment plan.

Art Therapist Job Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to help them express themselves and explore their emotions through art
  • Help clients understand their artwork and how it relates to their lives
  • Develop therapeutic goals and treatment plans with clients
  • Evaluate client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Keep detailed records of client progress and artwork
  • collaborate with other professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, etc.

Art Therapist Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • There are no formal qualifications required to become an art therapist, although most therapists have a degree or postgraduate qualification in art therapy.
  • To practise as an art therapist, you will need to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
