Wood Finisher Job Responsibilities
- Inspect lumber for defects and sort according to grade and type.
- Cut lumber to specified dimensions using power saws.
- Trim edges of boards with hand planes or chisels.
- Join boards together using dowels, screws, or nails and clamps.
- Sand surfaces of woodwork by hand or using power sanders.
- Apply stains, varnish, shellac, paint, or other finishes to protect surface and enhance appearance of woodwork
