Supply Planner Job Description Template
The Supply Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the production schedule for all products in order to meet customer demand. This includes working with sales, marketing, and operations to understand customer demand and develop a production plan that meets this demand. The Supply Planner also works with suppliers to ensure that the necessary materials are available when needed.
Supply Planner Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with production, sales, and marketing teams to forecast future demand and create supply plans accordingly
- Monitor inventory levels and track trends to prevent stockouts or excess inventory
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements
- Generate reports on supply planning metrics such as fill rates, turns, and backorders
- Maintain supplier relationships and negotiate contracts as needed
- Manage the execution of supply plans, including coordinating with warehouse and transportation teams

Supply Planner Job Skills & Qualifications Needed
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred
- At least five years of experience in planning and scheduling production activities
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MRP/ERP systems
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
