Marine Mechanic Job Skills & Qualifications Needed

  • A marine mechanic should have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • They should have completed a marine mechanics program at a trade school or community college.
  • They should be certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
  • Marine mechanics should have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • They should be able to read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Good customer service skills are also important, as marine mechanics often work directly with customers.
