Cable Installers also install outlets, jacks, and other hardware needed to connect customers' homes or businesses to the cable network. They may also troubleshoot customer's individual problems with their cable service.

Cable Installer Job Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret cable installation blueprints or work orders.
  • Dig trenches or bore holes to prepare for cable installation.
  • Install underground conduit systems and associated hardware.
  • Pull cables through installed conduits using winches or other mechanical devices.
  • Connect cables to customer equipment, such as televisions, Internet routers, or telephone jacks, using hand tools and small power tools.
  • Test installed cables for proper signal strength and quality using testing equipment such as multimeters or signal generators
