Bookbinder Job Description Template
The Bookbinder will be responsible for the binding of books and other materials using a variety of methods. They will also repair and restore damaged books. The Bookbinder will be required to have good manual dexterity, an eye for detail, and patience.
Bookbinder Job Responsibilities
- Receive and examine books and other items to be bound
- Determine type of binding required
- Measure spine of book to determine width of binding material needed
- Cut binding material to size
- Apply adhesive to binding material
- Attach endpapers to book's cover boards
- Place book block (text block) into adhesive on binding strip
- Close book by pressing pages together until adhesive dries
- Trim excess binding material from edges of book
